The mileage problem for estate agents
Estate agents and property professionals drive constantly — between property viewings, valuations, client meetings, photography appointments and the office. The miles add up quickly, but logging every journey between a busy schedule of property visits is a challenge.
Many estate agents rely on their employer's mileage reimbursement scheme, but still need accurate records of every journey. Reconstructing those records from memory at the end of the month is time-consuming and often inaccurate.
For self-employed property professionals — valuers, independent agents and property consultants — the problem is even greater. Missing mileage claims means missing significant tax relief.
How calendar appointments create your mileage records
Estate agents live by their calendars. Every viewing, valuation and client meeting is already in Google Calendar or Outlook — with the property address, the client name and the appointment time.
MileageCalendar reads those appointments, calculates the driving distances between consecutive property visits, and creates mileage records you can review and confirm.
Whether you need records for employer reimbursement or for your Self Assessment, your calendar has already done the hard work — MileageCalendar just turns it into mileage.
A typical estate agent day
Estate agents drive between property viewings, valuations, client meetings and the office. Every business journey is claimable — but with a packed schedule, logging them is easily forgotten.

UK mileage record considerations
HMRC allows estate agents to claim mileage between property viewings, valuations and client meetings at 55p per mile (first 10,000 miles in 2026/27, 25p per mile above).
The commute from home to your office or branch is not claimable. But once at the office, journeys to property viewings and client meetings are.
If you are employed and your employer reimburses mileage at less than the HMRC rate, you can claim the difference on your Self Assessment.
Keep records of the date, start, end, miles and purpose. MileageCalendar records all of this automatically from your calendar appointments.
Rates shown are for tax year 2026/27. Always check current HMRC guidance for your situation.
